Holt Proctor McBriarty Insurance Agency is renewing its support of the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation - Londonderry chapter by accepting toy donations at their Milford office through December 13th.

Last year, the agency was able to donate 320 toys in just 9 days.  This year agency owner, Lyle Fulkerson, hopes to beat this ambitious number by starting the drive a little sooner.  "The desperate need for toys has not been a prominent story in the media yet, but I am sure it will be," Fulkerson said.  "We hope to get ahead of it to make a small dent in the demand to make a few more kids happy on Christmas morning."

Holt Proctor McBriarty Insurance representatives will be accepting new unwrapped toys Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm until December 13th.  Agency team members will be loading gifts Friday morning, December 14th, for delivery to the Toys For Tots warehouse in Londonderry New Hampshire.

Toys For Tots is a nonprofit organization with the main goal being to deliver a message of hope to needy youngsters through the receipt of a new toyThe objective of the toy is it to motivate the children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Here are some guidelines to think about when choosing a gift according to the Toys For Tots web site:

Q: What age groups are supported by Toys For Tots?

Most campaign sites are able to assist children up to age 12, but in many local communities, local support is such that the age limit may be extended to 14-16.  According to Toys For Tots Coordinator GySgt Vince Donahue, they are currently in need of  toys for teenage boys and girls.

Q: Is there a list of toys available to guide me with my donation?

Toys For Tots does not publish a list of appropriate toys to donate.  If such a list were created, most would follow it, resulting in a limited selection of items to distribute in each community.  They would prefer it if the donors consider what might be an appropriate gift for their own child/relative, purchase the item, and donate it to Toys For Tots.

Q: Pre-teen/teens are groups for which shopping is especially difficult.  Do you have any ideas?

The Foundation does purchase supplemental toys/gifts for our campaign sites and focuses on these age groups.  In the past, items purchased for these groups have included, but are not limited to:  sporting equipment/bags/balls; books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, watch/wallet gift sets, bath gift sets, board games, radio control cars/trucks, hand-held electronics, skateboards/helmets, curling irons, hair straighteners, and hair dryers.

Q: Are there toys/gifts that are not accepted?

Toys For Tots prefers not to accept realistic looking weapons and gifts with food.  If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.

Holt Proctor McBriarty Insurance Agency is asking their employees, clients, carrier partners and community-at-large to support this wonderful cause.
